What
Claude Code turns tab characters in output into spaces so text lines up. It now does this one line at a time instead of in a single pass over the whole text. It leaves escape sequences untouched. Escape sequences are hidden codes that terminals use for things like colour. The column counter carries over from one line to the next.
Why
This is aimed at tab alignment in output that contains colour or other escape codes.
