What

When Claude Code turns tab characters in output into spaces, it now measures the width of the text that comes before each tab, rather than advancing the column piece by piece. Lines with no tabs or control codes skip this work entirely.

Why

Columns separated by tabs should now line up correctly even when the text contains color or style codes.
