With the CLAUDE_CODE_ACCESSIBILITY environment variable set, Claude Code handles announcement lines differently. Before, they were added again on every redraw of the screen. Now:
Announcement lines are held for a set time and kept across redraws.
They are dropped if they would grow too large or if the rest of the screen changes.
They are placed after the main content.
Why
People using a screen reader should hear less repeated or flickering announcement text.
