What
The tools Claude uses to read and change files (Read, Edit, Write, and NotebookEdit for Jupyter notebooks) now reject a file path that ends in white space, such as a trailing space. The check is made after parts like . (this folder) and .. (the folder above) in the path are worked out. When it fails, the tool returns an error saying the path ends in white space.
Why
A path with a stray space at the end can quietly point to a different file from the one intended. Refusing it stops Claude from reading or writing the wrong file by accident.
