What

A plugin marketplace is a catalog that plugins are installed from. claude plugin marketplace remove has new handling for ignored marketplace entries that use the same name as the built-in plugin directory. In that case Claude Code turns off the plugins from it that are not at the commit the entry lists. It does this in every place settings can come from:

  • user settings
  • project settings
  • local settings
  • managed (organization) settings
  • files passed with --settings
  • folders passed with --add-dir

If some plugins cannot be turned off, the command refuses with a detailed error. It also leaves the entry in known_marketplaces.json instead of deleting it.

When you switch from one plugin to another, Claude Code now also copies the plugin's options across: its pluginConfigs, its pluginSecrets and its data folder.

Why

Removing one of these entries can no longer leave plugins running from a marketplace that has gone. Switching plugins keeps your saved configuration and secrets instead of making you enter them again.
