What
When you send a message with an attachment through a remote connection to Claude Code, Claude Code can fetch the attachment ahead of time and keep it ready. Before, it kept it for a fixed time with no renewal. Now:
the hold can last a set number of seconds, and is renewed when the attachment is asked for again
attachments that are never used are released when their time runs out
a download that stalls is marked, and the message shows [attachment did not arrive] in its place
The hold length comes from a remote setting that falls back to 0 when the server sends nothing.
Why
This is meant to lose fewer attachments in remote sessions, and to make it visible when one does go missing instead of dropping it silently.
