Auto memory is Claude Code saving notes it learns for later sessions. Before, /memory had only a lasting on/off toggle for it. Changes:

  • Session toggle: a new row turns auto memory on or off for the current session only.
  • Project picks: picking a project can now be refused, and not saved, while writes are on.
  • Session kind: some kinds of session can refuse the choice.
  • Account memory: the tool that edits memory settings accepts an account memory setting and reports an error when raising an account setting is refused.
  • The "Account memory" line is removed from the selector.
Why

You get finer control over memory, but also new cases where a choice is refused, so watch for those messages.
