Auto mode is a mode where Claude carries out actions without asking you to approve each one. When a session is asked to start in auto mode, Claude Code now first checks whether the account or session is marked as covered by HIPAA, the US health privacy law. If it is, auto mode is not started. Before, only the usual check for whether auto mode was available was made.
