Claude Code has a fast mode for web search. Previously, setting the environment variable CLAUDE_CODE_WEBSEARCH_USE_CCR_PROXY (an environment variable is a named value set in your shell before starting Claude Code) switched fast mode off unless you also set CLAUDE_CODE_WEBSEARCH_CCR_PROXY_FAST. That exception has been removed, and CLAUDE_CODE_WEBSEARCH_CCR_PROXY_FAST is no longer read at all.
Whether fast mode is used is still decided by CLAUDE_CODE_WEB_SEARCH_FAST_ARG or by a remote setting that is off unless it is switched on remotely.
When fast web search is in use, the usage events Claude Code records for the WebSearch tool now also note whether a search ran in "standard" or "extended" mode.
If you route web search through the proxy, you no longer need the extra variable to be eligible for fast mode. If you had set CLAUDE_CODE_WEBSEARCH_CCR_PROXY_FAST, it now does nothing and can be removed.
