Claude Code can run in a cloud container with your own computer attached, so commands can run on either. New instructions in Claude's system prompt (the standing guidance Claude reads before your messages) cover:

  • Machines listed as "Not reachable right now": carry on with the rest of the task, do not keep checking, and retry only once and only if you ask.
  • Things that exist only on your computer, such as Xcode, Android, Windows or GPU tools, the Docker daemon, /Users paths and hosts behind a VPN: send that work straight to your machine.
  • No machine attached: commands run in the container, and Claude should ask for a machine to be attached when it needs one.
