What
Some plugins depend on other plugins. When something is wrong with those dependencies, Claude Code shows an error naming the plugins and marketplaces involved. For these errors, the names are now passed through a sanitizer, which cleans out unsafe characters, before they are shown:
Dependency cycles, where plugins depend on each other in a loop
Cross-marketplace dependencies, where a plugin needs one from a marketplace not on the allowlist
Missing dependencies
Before, the names were inserted into the message exactly as supplied.
Why
Plugin and marketplace names come from the marketplace. A badly or maliciously named one can no longer put control characters or misleading text into these error messages.
