What
When Claude tries to publish an artifact that is out of date, Claude Code refuses it and saves the current live version to a file. The message Claude gets now says "Read what you need of that file" instead of "Read that file". It then describes the file:
- its version
- its size in bytes
- its line count
- whether every line is short enough to read in parts, with any lines that are too long listed
The same hand-over now also applies when the starting version could not be examined, and a new check can hold the hand-over back. The guard only runs when its own internal switch is on.
Why
This steers Claude away from reading very large live artifact files in full, and warns it about lines too long to read in pieces.
