What
When you uninstall a plugin, Claude Code removes its install record and then re-reads installed_plugins.json, the file listing installed plugins. If it cannot re-read that file, uninstall now keeps everything the plugin saved:
its options
its secrets
its usage record
its data folder
The success message says what was kept and how to delete it yourself. Machine-readable output from the uninstall command reports a savedKept reason when this happens.
Why
The same plugin may still be installed at another level, for example for one project as well as for you everywhere. Keeping its saved data when Claude Code cannot check this stops an uninstall from deleting secrets and settings that the other install still needs.
