Claude Code's prompt editor has an optional vim mode, which uses the Vim editor's keyboard commands. Two of those commands now behave as in Vim.
After an operator such as d (delete), c (change) or y (copy), only the digits 1 to 9 start a count. 0 is treated as "go to line start", so d0, c0 and y0 now work. Before, 0 was taken as part of a count.
G now has its own handling in normal mode and after an operator. With a typed count, such as 5G, it jumps to that line. Without one, it jumps to the start of the last line.
Claude Code now tracks whether a count was actually typed (countTyped), which is how G tells the two cases apart.
Why
These are common Vim commands that did not work before, so people used to Vim can now use them in the prompt as expected.
