When Claude Code fetches your organization's policy through the Cloud gateway, the fetch can now fail with a new error type, gateway_public_address. This happens when the gateway's host name turns out to point to a public internet address at the moment of the fetch.
This failure is not retried. You are told that your machine is no longer reaching the gateway from inside your organization's network, so the policy was not fetched. It applies to everyone using the gateway.
Why
If you see this message, the policy did not load because of where your connection is going, not because of a passing glitch. Trying again will not help until your machine reaches the gateway from inside your organization's network again.
