What
A new environment variable, CLAUDE_CODE_FOOTER_INDICATOR, can now set the text shown in the footer pill (the small indicator shown in Claude Code's status line). If the environment variable is set, it is checked first and used instead of the previous source. If it is not set, the footer text falls back to the existing footer_indicator setting from settings.json (or the bootstrap client data), as before.
Why
This gives users and integrators a straightforward way to control or override the footer indicator text from the environment, without needing to edit settings.json.
