What

Connectors link claude.ai to outside services, and files can be downloaded from them. Under an organization's web search / connector isolation policy, Claude Code now refuses web search, web fetch and browser tools when:

  • a folder in the session holds files downloaded from claude.ai connectors
  • the check for such files cannot be completed

Once a session has seen connector data, web tools stay blocked for the rest of it. Claude Code tells the model why with the message that these tools are unavailable under your organization's policy. The behaviour also depends on a remote switch that is on unless it is switched off remotely.

Why

This is a control against data leaving the organization: data from connectors cannot be sent out through the web in the same session. Expect web tools to disappear in such sessions when your organization uses this policy.
