When Claude Code reaches the internet through an HTTP proxy, it first asks the proxy to open a tunnel. That request now runs on its own connection instead of drawing on the shared pool of connections Claude Code otherwise reuses.
Why
In practice each tunnel request gets a fresh connection, which may help where reused connections to a proxy were causing trouble.
