What

An HTTP proxy is a server that passes your network traffic on to the internet. To go through one, Claude Code first sends the proxy a request to open a tunnel, a direct connection to the destination. That request now includes the header Connection: keep-alive, which asks the proxy to keep the connection open instead of closing it.

Why

If you connect through an HTTP proxy, this may change how the proxy reuses connections.
