What
A PostToolUse hook is your own command that runs after a tool call succeeds. A tool call is one action Claude takes, such as reading a file or running a command. A turn can be ended early by a new message or by a permission check. When that happens, Claude Code now stops that turn's PostToolUse hooks once they reach a time limit. The tool's result is kept, but without the hook's answer.
Why
A slow hook can no longer hold up a cancelled turn forever. If your hook takes a long time, its output may be dropped when the turn has already been cut short.
