What

Programs built on Claude Code can receive permission requests, messages asking whether Claude may use a tool. An ask rule is a rule that says Claude must always ask before using a tool. MCP tools come from MCP servers, add-ons that give Claude extra tools. The description of the permission request format now notes that a field may also be set when an ask rule reaches an MCP tool only under another name, whatever reason is given for the decision.

Why

Program authors get a clearer picture of when a rule forced Claude to ask.
