What

Some prompts ask you to pick one or several options, and one option can let you type your own answer. While that option is selected, the chat:externalEditor key binding can now open your external editor (the text editor named in your $EDITOR setting) to write the answer.

Backspace in that answer now deletes one whole character, including characters such as emoji that are stored as several parts. Before, it could delete only part of such a character.

Why

Long answers are easier to write and fix in a full editor than in a one-line box. This only works in prompts that are set up to offer it.
