Unclear It is not stated what condition must hold for Claude Code to use the variable, or what values it accepts.

What

Claude Code now reads an environment variable called CLAUDE_CODE_DESKTOP_WORKFLOW_LIMIT_WAIT. An environment variable is a named value set outside the program that it can read at start-up. When a check passes, Claude Code hands the value to a Desktop setting about waiting on a workflow limit, then removes the variable from its environment so later programs do not see it. The variable has also been added to the list of variables Claude Code lets through.

Why

This appears to let the Claude Desktop app tell Claude Code to have workflows wait out a usage limit.
