Compaction is how Claude Code shortens a long conversation by replacing older messages with a summary, so the conversation still fits in what the model can read at once. Two things changed:
one path now stops early when the setup in use sends compaction summaries
the check that decides whether to re-run queued work now also counts hidden internal messages marked as left over for that re-run
Why
These changes affect what happens when a conversation is compacted or a turn is resumed.
