What
A subagent is a helper Claude starts to handle part of a task, and each one keeps its own transcript, a record of what it did. When a session takes over subagents from another session, the transcripts are linked in rather than copied. Claude Code can now read transcripts through those links, after strict safety checks. The list of recorded subagents and the check for skills that ran as their own subagent both use this.
Why
A session that took over work from another one can now list that work's subagent history instead of missing it.
