What

Auto mode lets Claude act without asking you each time, checking each action against your rules. If your permission rules and autoMode settings together come to more than about 1 MB, auto mode is now unavailable and Claude Code says why: they are too large to send to the checker. The message suggests shortening the deny and ask rules under permissions.

Why

Auto mode refusing to run is no longer a mystery, and you know which rules to trim.
