What
Claude Code normally works out which files changed by asking git, the version control tool. It can now list changes in the folder you launched it from even when that folder is not a git repository, by using a temporary repository behind the scenes. Files that look like secrets, dotfiles (files whose names start with a dot) and denied paths are skipped. This needs git 2.32 or later.
Why
Remote or bridge sessions can show which files changed even outside a git repository.
