What
A preview tunnel is a connection that carries data through a relay server. Its connections can now ask the relay to send data in binary form instead of JSON text. If connecting that way keeps failing, it stops asking and falls back to JSON. Claude Code notes whether the relay agreed, or answered in JSON because it did not grant binary or a proxy dropped the request.
Usage data about opening these tunnels is now reported as one entry per reason, with new counts of connection attempts and bytes sent through the relay.
Why
This changes how preview tunnels send data, and falls back to the old format when the new one does not work.
