Unclear Another condition also decides whether the read-ahead runs, and what it checks is not stated.

What

A transcript is the saved record of a conversation, used to pick a session back up. For sessions connected through an SDK address that do not use storage version 5, Claude Code now reads the transcript ahead of time when resuming. A large transcript is read in several pieces at once. If that read is cancelled, the resume is stopped.

Set the environment variable CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_TRANSCRIPT_READ_AHEAD to skip the read-ahead.

Why

This changes how those sessions are resumed, and the variable gives you a way back if the read-ahead causes trouble.
