What
Claude Code has a code mode in which Claude writes small pieces of code that call tools, and a Poll tool for checking on that code while it runs. Poll used to work only in the main conversation. It can now also be called by a sub-agent, which is a separate helper Claude starts to handle part of a task.
Other changes in the same area:
- Repeated messages from hooks are dropped, and there is a limit on how many hook messages one run can produce. A hook is a command you configure to run at set points.
- Status text now shows while code is still waiting to be evaluated.
- A tool call made from the code is refused when a matching
PreToolUsehook, which runs before a tool call and can block it, does not finish.
