What
While a task runs on the server, Claude Code checks its status over and over. This is called polling. If these checks fail too many times with a particular error, Claude Code now asks the server to cancel the task. The error you see then says "Claude Code asked the server to cancel the task."
Before, Claude Code reported that polling had failed and left the task alone.
Why
Tasks are no longer left running on the server after Claude Code has stopped tracking them.
