What
Shared memory sync copies Claude's memory files between your machine and a shared store. It covers the setup where several stores are used through CLAUDE_MEMORY_STORES. It now treats deletes differently:
- Deleting a specific memory file by name is recorded and triggers a sync straight away.
- Claude is told when the shared store has not yet confirmed a delete.
- If a delete cannot be sent, the file is restored at the next pull from the shared store, and Claude is told.
- Files missing on your machine while deletes are switched off are put back, and Claude is told they are still in shared memory.
- Files you just deleted now count toward the guard that holds back deletes when many files disappear at once. Its message says sync did NOT delete anything from shared memory that cycle.
- Files skipped for being too large or for containing secrets are tracked, and sync refuses to delete them.
Why
Deleting or forgetting a shared memory now behaves more predictably. Claude is told what happened, so it can tell you whether a memory was really removed.
