What
An MCP server is an add-on program that gives Claude extra tools and files. A skill is a packaged set of instructions Claude can load. When a skill comes from an MCP server, Claude Code now only reads files that a loaded skill from that server lists.
If Claude asks for any other file, the read is refused with the message: "This resource was not read, because no skill that is loaded from this server lists this address."
Why
This limits which files a skill from an MCP server can pull into a session, so a server cannot hand over files its loaded skills never mentioned.
