What
When you log in, Claude Code writes your new login details to a temporary file before moving them into place. If that save fails, Claude Code now handles the leftover file:
If your existing saved login was not touched, it tries to delete the temporary file.
Otherwise it shows an error saying the login was not saved and giving the path of the temporary file that holds the new one.
Why
A failed save no longer leaves your new login somewhere you cannot find. You can see exactly which file holds it.
