What
A hard link is a second name for the same file on disk, so one file can show up at two paths. Some of Claude Code's file reads now ask for a file that has only one name. For those reads, a file with more than one hard link is now refused and treated as if it could not be read. The existing checks still apply: the path must be a regular file and must be under the size limit.
Why
This is a security hardening. Without it, a hard link placed in an innocent-looking location could make Claude Code read a different, possibly sensitive, file that shares the same contents on disk.
