What
A transcript is the saved record of a conversation. When Claude Code stores one, it can shorten the results of reading files after comparing their content. Several details of that step changed:
System reminders, which are notes Claude Code adds to the conversation for the model, are removed before the content is compared.
The shortening step can be told to skip that comparison.
The tools Claude used are now tracked in a list, and those entries are written only when a further condition holds.

These details affect how much of a file read is kept in a stored transcript.
