Unclear How a plugin provides an mcp-servers resource is not described.
What
MCP servers are outside services that give Claude extra tools, and plugins can list the ones they bring. A plugin's .mcp.json or mcpServers text entry can now refer to a resource of kind mcp-servers. The normal file loader skips entries like these.
Why
Plugins may be able to ship their MCP server definitions as a bundled resource rather than a separate file.

The entry above is what we published on the day. These lines were added later, as Anthropic's own pages caught up, and they sit beside the original rather than replacing it.
Added since
A small documentation edit on MCP, plugins, skills, and hooks touched a line naming mcpServers after this was published.
| `.mcp.json` | MCP servers bundled with this plugin. A JSON object keyed by server name: `{"mcpServers": {"<name>": {"type": "http", "url": "...", "oauth": true}}}`. A remote entry uses `type` (`http` or `sse`), not `transport`, and suppo…third-party/claude-desktop/extensions see the edit
