To find how many pages a PDF has, Claude Code reads the output of pdfinfo, a program that reports details about PDF files. It used to take the first page count in that output. It now looks at every page count and uses the largest valid number.
Why
PDFs that give unusual pdfinfo output should be read more reliably.
