What

MCP tools are tools from outside services connected to Claude Code. Claude Code can swap file references into calls to these tools. That handling used to be built only for Drive, and it now works for other tools set up to use it. For tools that check recipients, Claude Code refuses the call if:

  • the call was not made directly
  • its contents differ from what you approved
  • the record of your approval was dropped

It also checks which recipients are shown to you, and refuses calls shaped like Gmail messages that fail its check.

Why

File handling can now reach tools other than Drive, and a call you approved cannot be changed before it is sent.
