When an MCP server needs you to sign in again, Claude Code shows a message saying so. MCP servers are outside programs that give Claude Code extra tools. The message used to end with "(run /mcp to re-authenticate)" every time.

The advice you get on how to sign back in to an MCP server can now differ from server to server.
