What
Claude Code watches some files for changes, such as your settings. It now identifies the folder it is watching by the disk's own record of it, not only by its name. If the folder is removed or renamed, the watcher switches to polling, which means checking for changes at regular intervals.
Before, the watcher had one general fallback for a change it had missed, with no reason given. It now records what was being watched, the cause, and whether the folder was absent, unchanged or replaced.
Why
Tools and editors sometimes replace a whole folder instead of editing files in place. Claude Code can now keep noticing changes to your settings and files in that case.
