Unclear It is not stated which import feature this applies to or what triggers the new checks.
What
When Claude Code imports something, it now reads and writes the files through handles that stay attached to the exact file it checked. A handle is the connection a program keeps to an open file. Claude Code refuses to follow symbolic links, which are shortcuts that point to some other file. It also refuses to continue if the file is swapped for a link after it was checked.
When that happens, the import stops with a message saying it could not confirm it is still the place it checked.
Why
This is a security hardening. It stops a file from being quietly redirected somewhere else between the moment Claude Code checks it and the moment it uses it.
