What

Claude Code has a new cleanup step for a sync trash folder, a place where removed files are kept for a while. It:

  • groups the entries by their names
  • keeps the most recent ones
  • deletes the rest once there are more than a set limit
  • skips folders that are still in use

It records whether each cleanup worked. When the server sends nothing, it is on.

Why

This deletes files on your disk by default, so it is worth knowing about if you keep anything in that trash folder.
