Unclear It is not known what this switch controls, so the effect of the new fallback on users is unclear.
What
The built-in fallback for the server-controlled switch tengu_marble_heron changed from true to the number 8. A fallback is the value Claude Code uses when Anthropic's servers send nothing for that switch. Because the fallback is now a number, the switch now holds a setting value instead of a simple on or off. The server can still send a different value for each account.
Why
The fallback was changed on purpose. Nothing else in this release shows what the switch controls, so it is not yet clear what a value of 8 changes in practice.

Feature flag
tengu_marble_heronNot enough to say
Nothing here resolved what this flag was doing on this version, so nothing here should be read as on or off.
This account: no value returned · anonymous baseline: no value returned · compiled default in v2.1.314: not a boolean we can read
These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.
