What
Fast mode is a setting you can switch on and off from a picker, a small menu for choosing an option. This release changes two things about switching it:
Turning fast mode on may now send a notification through a new callback, a piece of code that runs when the switch happens. Before, only a message was shown.
If you switch fast mode from the picker and the switch returns an error, Claude Code now restores the fast mode state that was stored before the switch. This happens both for local sessions and for remote ones, meaning sessions running on another machine. Before, the picker showed the error but did not restore anything.
Why
A failed fast mode switch should no longer leave the screen showing a state that is not really in effect. You may also get a notification when fast mode is turned on, not only a message.
