When auto mode stops because it cannot be used, Claude Code records this in the usage data it sends. That record now includes a reason, alongside whether a subagent (a helper Claude starts for part of the work) was involved and whether a gateway is configured.
Why
This makes it easier to work out why auto mode's checker was unavailable.
