What

A virtual machine, or VM, is a computer that runs in software inside another one. When Claude Code works in VM mode with a copy of your project, it now describes that host using the copy's own details:

  • Tools, working folder, platform and shell all come from the copy.
  • Project sync is off, and the folder is marked as a separate copy.
  • A record of the original platform and folder is kept with it.

Before, the host always used the local tool list and the local project sync settings.

Why

This lets a separate copy of your project be shown as its own machine, so changes made there are not treated as changes to your original folder.
