In a remote session, Claude Code's tools run on another machine. When that machine has signed off, the message saying a remote tool cannot be reached now includes what the machine left for. Claude Code also now counts when each remote request starts and ends, and treats that as a sign the session is active.
Remote sessions are better at telling an idle connection from an active one, and a tool that cannot be reached comes with a clearer reason.
