What
When Claude Code runs as a worker in a cloud session, it talks to Anthropic's servers over a live connection that can compress messages. Claude Code now checks the compression the server agreed to. It accepts it only when each message is compressed on its own, in both directions. If the server accepted compression in a form that may compress a message using earlier ones, Claude Code closes that connection and stops offering compression. When compression is on, its connection log notes that the connection is compressed.
Separately, the policy that checks a cloud worker's requests gains a check on each request that changes the model or the effort level.
Why
This is a safeguard on how cloud sessions send data: a form of compression that ties messages together is not allowed.
