What

A remote host is another machine that Claude Code can run tools on. Claude Code can withdraw that host's tools, for example when it disconnects. When Claude now tries to use one of those tools, the lookup returns a host_offline error that includes the reason the tools were withdrawn. Before, it returned a generic offline message or unknown_host.

This does not apply to a host that is still connecting.

Why

When a remote or paired machine drops out, the error now tells you why.
